It's been four years since Mortal Kombat X was first announced and unveiled at E3 2014!

Along with a couple of series favourites; initial previews thrust a mysterious new generation of fighters into the spotlight. Their stories were told in MKX, a mobile game, comic book tie-ins, and the expanded edition of Mortal Kombat XL. A couple of franchise legends even made the leap into Injustice 2 in time for last year's 25th Anniversary celebration!

At every step of the way, MK Online has invited fans all over the world to take stock of characters new and old. This year our annual tradition is turning our attention towards the future of the series! We're thinking about what happened last, and what will happen next, while asking the eternal question: Who is the Supreme Mortal Kombat Champion?

For Mortal Kombat fans: the display of a new range of klassic inspired VS Series action figures was a tantalizing tease in time for the series' 25th Anniversary!

Like the series itself, these iconic warriors are constantly evolving to look, play, and be different. It's one of the things that makes Mortal Kombat unique! A constant state of flux you won't find in many other successful fighting game series!

In 2017, Mortal Kombat celebrates its 25th Anniversary! The last quarter century of kombat has cast a long shadow over arcades, consoles, handhelds, mobiles and more - giving us plenty to consider as we summon fans from around the globe to participate in an annual tradition!

The yearly character tournament has become a living document of the reboot era. We've celebrated the klassics, speculated about the future, and welcomed a new generation of kombat icons! In 2017, we're still seeing the series evolve in Mortal Kombat X Mobile and Injustice 2. We'll be thinking about it all as we ask the eternal question in this very special year: Who is the Supreme Mortal Kombat Champion?

Lost Kontent: Mortal Komat Encyclopaedia Mock Proofs

The saga of the Mortal Kombat Encyclopedia has been a long and winding one. Mortal Kombat Online first reported on mounting fan interest for a printed tome in the middle of last year [full story]. In the time since, the project has evolved and escalated under the guidance of dedicated fan Ninja_Arts aka; Myke Snow.

Earlier in the year, Snow provided MK Online with early drafts of the mock-ups that provide proof of concept for the book. The designs provide a hypothetical blueprint for DK Publishing, potential consumers, and the ultimate hold-out: Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios. Click to enlarge examples below:

In 2015, we greeted a new generation of warriors who joined the fight against Netherrealm invasion in Mortal Kombat X! After months of debate and many tens of thousands of votes, fans chose the fantasy of an unsung hero they hoped to summon: Fujin.

In March, MKX got super-sized and welcomed even more fighters through the komplete edition package of Mortal Kombat XL. Alas; last year's Supreme Champion winner was still beyond mortal reach! Ed Boon Polls Fans For Mortal Kombat X Most Missed

One year on from the record release of Mortal Kombat X; NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon has polled fans on the controversial subject of absentee characters.

Using a Twitter poll: Boon asked which character fans missed the most, isolating his options to just four characters. With a 45% majority, Noob Saibot was the overwhelming winner. Popularly requested cult favourite Rain came second with 22%.

MTV Preview DC Comics Mortal Kombat X #1 (Full Issue)

MTV have an exclusive preview of this Wednesday's print edition of Mortal Kombat X #1 from DC Comics!

With a US retail price of $3.99, the print version is solicited at a hefty 40 pages. The MTV preview is a fine illustration of the substantial format differences between digital and print - the latter encompassing three of the digital chapters [99c each].

Questions of medium and format weighed heavily when Mortal Kombat Online took a critical look at Chapter One.

The story follows Kenshi and his son Takeda as they go on the run from Hsu Hao and the forces of the Red Dragon Clan. Alluding to untold tales, Kenshi seeks the refuge of Scorpion and his new Shirai Ryu Temple. Also featured in the issue: Sub-Zero, Kano and the curse of the kamidogu!
